more new loveliness!

A huge box arrived from Nature Babies today which contained, among other things, the new wrap prints, blue and pink 'camo' and a truly gorgeous 'orange flower fairies' which is set to be a winner I am sure. Would look great on our little red-head - do you think he could carry it off ;-)

We've also got the new fleece Multiwrap which we've been testing since its design inception and have been very impressed with. In fact, Tom is asleep now with a prototype on over a very boosted Fluffle!

They'll all appear on the web site over the weekend with photos to follow asap. We've lots to photograph at the moment so Chris will be busy in his 'studio' next week!

Meanwhile, I have all the lovely new Autumn/Winter clothing to add to the database... mmm, best get cracking!

boxes, boxes, boxes

everywhere... Lots of new stock arriving this week, mostly Autumn/Winter clothing ranges which will appear on the web site as soon as we can get the photography together! Lots of gorgeous new lines from Cut4Cloth and some very very funky lines from 'Green Rabbit' with trousers cut to accommodate cloth bottoms! So, bring on the Autumn chill so we can wrap up in cosy cord dungarees and fleecy tops please!

Keep your eyes peeled for an email newsletter if you've subscribed and you'll be the first to know when they are live and ready to buy...

diaper art!

Now for a little indulgence... be warned, if you think you have a nappy addiction run now! Run fast and run far, far away, cutting your credit card into little pieces as you go! You have been warned ;-)

Aside from being totally practical and good for you and your baby on many levels, cloth nappies can also be things of great beauty. For there are some very talented 'mamas' out there and when mums start creating things for their babes the results can be quite simply beautiful.

In the US especially it is possible to obtain 'awsome diapers' and covers made with love and embellished with embroidery and even matching outfits. Take a look:

Fuzbaby - the origianal 'diaper art'

Llamajamas - wool wonderfulness...

patchwork pixie - just perfection (but hard to actually obtain!!) with a gallery full of hand made loveliness...

celtic wool creations - very very posh wool.

Those white cotton nappies and PUL wraps you've been using so happily will never look quite the same again...

les couches lavables...

That's 'washable nappies' in French don't you know ;-)

We've been putting a bunch of new nappies through their paces from a French maker - P'tit Dessous. A variety of shaped and pocket nappies, some similar to Swaddlebees and Fuzzi Bunz with suedecloth pockets and some shaped nappies in bamboo and other lovely velour and sherpa fabrics.

They are looking good and I think we'll be taking stock of the velour/sherpa nappy pretty soon with others to follow potentially!

So, if you like luscious, soft, jewel colours and soft, cozy fabrics against the skin keep checking for the aptly named P'tit Dessous 'toudou' (so soft)...

There's also a really versatile bamboo insert which folds double to make a super absorbent stuffing yet is pretty quick drying when opened out flat.

Fuzzi Bunz *PLUS* insert... the fallout!

As of the 1st September Mother of Eden (the US manufacturer of Fuzzi Bunz pocket nappies) have issued a 'directive'  that their nappies be sold as a 'set' with a microterry insert included in the (higher) price.

We've had a mixed response to this change and we can understand why... If you're upgrading from Medium to Petite Toddler or Large nappies the chances are you've got a stack of inserts. Or you've decided that a terry square or a hemp insert is a better option and invested in these separately. So, a whole bunch of microterry inserts that you've had to pay for might seem a little irksome! Unfortunately, as Mother of Eden can decide not to sell to retailers who don't follow their directives (on price and packages and everything else) we don't really have a choice... So we're sorry if it's not the way you want to buy your Fuzzi Bunz and if the situation changes we'll be sure to let you know!

On the other hand, newcomers to the fluffy world of cloth do find it easier not to have to think about all the insert options and just buy a nappy that will 'work' with one simple click, so it's not all bad news!

Just back from our first break...

in 4 years (since we opened Kittykins for business!)

We took a sneaky 5 day break for some much needed rest and recuperation after a very very busy few years setting up and running our little business.

So, if you've waited a few days longer than usual for your parcel to arrive, that's why! Thanks for being patient with us...

While away, we were mulling over new features we plan to add to the site (look out for 'new products', a quick 'pounds to kilos' converter and lots of other goodies designed to make shopping even easier) and I came up with the idea of starting a 'blog'. Somewhere a bit less 'formal' than the website to offer up tips and tricks, let you know about products we're testing/considering and allow you to offer your feedback (via the open comments facility).

Just so you know who you're talking to, here's a very rare pic of me (testing a product of course!) with 'J', our littlest, in an Ellaroo wrap sling ('front cross carry' in case you are interested!)
